Richard A. Thoms DVM, along with Pamela Frank DVM and Tamara Sloan DVM specialize in all your cat concerns.
Dr. Richard A. Thoms graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University in 1978 and immediately started practice in rural Maine. After a memorable introduction to veterinary medicine, he returned home to Oakland County to focus on companion animal practice. Dr. Thoms started Cat Care in 1989 because of his love of cats and his realization of a need for a veterinary facility that catered to the special needs of cats and their owners. Dr. Thoms has been an active member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners since 1988 and regularly attends their continuing education seminars. These meetings are the most comprehensive and focused informational sources for feline medicine and surgery.
Dr. Tamara Sloan is the newest veterinarian to join Cat Care's team. She attended the University of Michigan to become a human physician and late in her senior year decided she would rather treat four-footed furry patients, and so attended the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Sloan turned her personal love of cats into a professional passion. As an active officer in the student chapter of the American Association of Feline Practitioners, she decided early on to pursue a career in feline medicine. Dr. Sloan has been practicing small animal medicine in the western suburbs of Detroit since graduating in May 2002.
Dr. Pamela Frank has been a part of the Cat Care team since August of 1999. She graduated from Michigan State University in 1985. Dr. Frank spent her early years out East with a rural companion animal practice until she moved back to Michigan in 1990. Then she was a part of two small animal practices in Southeast Michigan until she joined Cat Care. During her veterinary career, Dr. Frank has developed a special interest in feline medicine and has been able to pursue this as a member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners.
